It doesn’t matter if it’s a store bought card, a homemade card or a handwritten note.  There’s nothing like receiving that little something that says you care.  In a post last year from CNN, approximately 151 million cards were exchanged last Valentine’s Day.  It brings us back to the times where we’d exchange Valentines as children and it will always warm the heart of the recipient.  Trust me.

Are flowers and chocolates too cliche?

For the woman who says “I don’t need/want anything”

This one is simple.  Don’t believe her.  Okay…maybe believe her a little.  I, personally, fall into this category.  Keep it super simple in this case and give her something you know she likes and uses along with that fore-mentioned card/note.  It will make her smile and feel special.


For the guys…should they get Valentines, too?

Another simple one.  YES!  OF COURSE!  Men like to feel special and know that you care, too.  If your guy is like most of the ones I know, they’ll appreciate something simple.  If the way to your guy’s heart is through his stomach, how about his favorite snack or drink.   If you know you’re going out for dinner, maybe pre-order his favorite appetizer or drink.  If he’s been stressed, offer to take over a household chore or duty for him for a week (this goes for guys looking to treat their gals, too).


Don’t forget to show your friends some love or…more appropriately…appreciation

Valentine’s Day is rough for some people, especially if they don’t have a significant other.  While you may not want to show the “love” so to speak, let them know you appreciate them and you like having them in your life.
