Make a House Warming Wish List

Oh what joy and excitement is felt when you sign those papers when buying a new home.  Then comes the reality for some – there are so many things we need!  Many people have a housewarming party for this reason, so why not put together a wish list of things you could really use for your new home?  It’s a great way for your guests to know exactly what you really need for your newest residence.

Now I’m not saying you should ask people to fully furnish your new home, quite the opposite.  But many times for house warmings, people may bring you bottles of wine when you don’t even have a corkscrew.  It’s those little things that could make your home feel a little warmer than when you first arrived.

My husband and I bought our home shortly before we were married, so we still had bridal showers that would bring in many things we needed.  However, if we had already been married and bought the house we had, there would have been many things that we would have really needed.

Our house was new construction, so we needed a lot of little random things.  For example, towel rods, toilet paper holders, curtains, etc.  I don’t know how long we lived with sheets tacked to the windows instead of curtains!

If we had needed a housewarming, I would have made a list of little helpful things that would have been nice to have for the house.  I would have also noted places where people could get us gift cards to put towards some of those larger items, like those towel racks.

If you know a couple who doesn’t want to ask others for some of these important items but you know they could really use a little help, why not make a list for them!  They will be shocked at the thoughtfulness of their friends and family.
